Clinicon Corporation is a medical device company headquartered in Oceanside, California. The Company is offering a line of next generation, minimally invasive surgical devices that will revolutionize the $3.5 billion surgical devices market. Clinicon’s portfolio of new products includes Reusable Instruments as well as Disposables and Maintenance Systems.

The Company’s primary new product is the Diamond Laser Surgical System (DLSS) that is the world’s first surgical unit combining an ultra-sharp synthetic diamond blade or various probes with diamond mini-tips and coagulating laser energy to dramatically enhance surgery and significantly improve their outcomes.

The DLSS is comprised of several components: a patented highly versatile, compact, tabletop CO2 Laser System, a patented unique CO2 laser energy delivery Fiber Guide Cable (FGC), a patented next-generation Diamond Laser Scalpel (DLS) and a patented Diamond Laser EndoProbe (DLE). It is the first and only surgical system that combines an ultra-sharp blade or minute tip with CO2 laser energy into one handheld device.

Laser energy is directed through the Diamond Scalpel or Endoprobe into tissue during cutting or ablating. By absorption in tissue water, laser light transforms into thermal energy that instantly coagulates adjacent blood vessels and significantly reduces or eliminates the bleeding associated with surgery. This method of surgery has the advantage of using gentle coagulation rather than cauterizing with a free-beam laser or electro-surgical probe.

Diamond is the only substance known that can maintain a cold-contact surface while effectively transmitting laser energy. The density of its molecular structure permits it to be sharpened to an astonishingly fine edge of 25 nanometer formed by 200 carbon molecules. The diamond blade, which is forty times (40X) sharper than a traditional steel scalpel and durable enough to last up to 200 full surgical procedures, offers surgeons the ability to operate with great precision and efficiency. Clinical studies have shown that when the Diamond Laser Surgical System is used surgical time is significantly reduced and clinical outcomes are highly improved.
